In an effort to improve the travel experience of Interrail Passholders, in May 2023 we launched a new pilot (available until further notice) with increased outbound and inbound allowances on mobile Passes.
Any additional journeys will be visible on the Rail Planner app on the Pass Details screen (by clicking on a specific Pass on the My Pass screen). The IB/OB allowances are applied during activation, so it also applies to non-activated Passes issued prior to the start of the pilot.
We are conducting this pilot as a test solution to some commonly experienced travel issues with night trains or when customers live too far from their country's border to make it across within one travel day.
Passengers who live in one of the participating countries are automatically enrolled in this pilot. You can check your Outbound/Inbound allowance in the My Pass section of the Rail Planner app. We hope this will enhance your travel experience, and we wish you a great trip with your Interrail Pass!
Please note: The Interrail Pass only allows international travel, apart from journeys to and from your home. Pass holders can only travel on their national network with an Interrail Pass if they are departing from or returning to their country of residence. Misuse of the additional return journeys available through this pilot program may result in the ticket controller requiring the Pass holder to pay the full fare or being removed from the train.
