Yes. You can book seat reservations for other travellers, as long as they have their own Pass, and you can book for up to 9 travellers in one order.
How to book for someone else
Everyone from your Pass order appears automatically in the Travellers section of your account. To add someone who bought their Pass separately, go to Travellers, click Add a traveller and enter their mobile Pass number, or the Pass Cover Number if they have a paper Pass.
When you book, click Edit travellers and select everyone who’s travelling. Selecting everyone together means your reservations are booked in the same order, so you can travel together.
Reservations only appear in the account they were booked with. You can download the e-tickets and share them with the people you’re travelling with.
Booking for a group
- Group size: you can book for up to 9 travellers in one order. Some trains have a lower limit. If yours does, you’ll see it clearly in our timetable.
- Different classes: if your group has both 1st class and 2nd class Passes, we’ll only show 2nd class seats, so you can all sit together.
- Passes that can’t be booked together: if some Passes are a different type or cover different countries, you’ll see a message explaining why. In that case, book those travellers in a separate order.
Travelling with children
Children under 4 don’t need a Pass. But on busy trains, you may be asked to have your child on your lap, as they aren’t guaranteed their own seat.
To guarantee a seat for a child under 4, you’ll need to book a seat reservation for them, and for that, they need a free Child Pass. Order it together with your own Pass. Rules for children can vary by train operator, so check with the train operator before you travel.
Good to know
- Cancelling for one person: you can’t cancel the reservation for just one traveller in a group booking. If someone in your group might change their plans, you can book them in a separate order instead. Keep in mind that you might not be seated together. We can’t change seats after booking, but you can ask at the ticket office at the station, or ask the train staff once you’re on board.
- Transferring a reservation: reservations can’t be transferred to someone else.
