In general, seat reservations are not required for most trains in Great Britain. For these services, you only need an activated travel day and to have the journey added to your Pass in the app.
Please ensure your journey is added to your Pass and activated before boarding.
Exceptions to this rule include:
- Eurostar
- Caledonian Sleeper
- Night Riviera sleeper
- LNER
- TransPennine Express
Reservations for Eurostar trains (between London and Paris, London and Brussels, and London and Amsterdam/Rotterdam) can be booked via our self-service.
Reservations for other trains can be made through the following options:
- With the railway carriers:
- Via the LNER (London North Eastern Railway) reservations tool: only domestic trains within the LNER network (see photo below)
- Via the Caledonian Sleeper reservation tool: domestic night train (For a seat reservation, you need to contact the Guest Service Centre)
- Via TransPennine Express - most domestic day trains. To view the instructions, go to our booking instructions page and scroll down
- Via Railtourguide (UK-based travel agent)
- Locally at the train station (seats for Pass holders might not be available when booking last-minute)
Important tip: Some of the trains in the UK can be booked online for free, using the LNER reservation website, which can be used to book trains in the LNER network (pictured below) without additional fees.
