It is possible to make reservations for most trains between 60-90 days before your planned date of departure. The notable exception here is Eurostar where reservations on our self-service are possible up to six months in advance. Please note that if you try to book a train earlier than 90 days in advance, it might be possible that no price or journey details will be available yet and you will see an error message instead.
We recommend making your reservations as soon as possible, especially if you plan on taking popular high-speed trains with limited availability for passholders such as Eurostar or TGV. Whereas most night trains (such as Nightjet, EuroNight, etc) do not offer limited availability, due to high demand they can also become fully booked quickly.
If you're unfamiliar with European train travel, it is worth noting that the timetable is subject to various contingencies such as track maintenance, repair, etc. This information is especially important if you are booking early. Please always check if your train departs as planned before the start of your journey. In case of problems, contact our customer service.
We do have dedicated informational pages per train type on our website. This page contains, among other things, the pre-booking period for each train.
