There are plenty of alternative ways to book seat reservations. A constantly updated full list of these options is available on our website, where you can also find information on which platforms are most suitable for your needs. If you scroll further down, you will also find step-by-step instructions for each booking method.
In this article, we would like to highlight one of the alternative booking services: Rail Europe, which offers an extensive range of reservations. It can be used for Eurostar, as well as trains in France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, parts of Austria, and Spain.
Rail Europe also provides some additional benefits that are not available through other booking systems, such as the option to select your own seats and, in some cases, access to seating arrangements for passengers with reduced mobility.
The booking process is relatively straightforward and involves a few steps:
First, go to the Rail Europe website and use the journey planner. Before clicking “Search”, make sure to add your Pass in the “Add rail pass” section. This ensures that the correct discount is applied.
Please note that the "Rail Pass" field is only visible on the desktop version of the website. Therefore, we recommend using a laptop or PC, or enabling desktop view in your mobile browser.
After clicking “Search”, select the train that best suits your journey. You can view the fare conditions, such as class, refund, and exchange rules, by clicking the arrow next to each option.
Once you have made your selection, click on the train and then select “Continue” to proceed.
On the final page, you may have the option to select your preferred seat. For some trains, this may involve an additional charge. You can also choose the “mode” in which your ticket will be issued.
Once you have completed your selection, add the ticket to your basket and continue with the purchase process as guided by the website.
