Nothing happens to them automatically. Seat reservations are separate from your Pass, so cancelling or exchanging your Pass doesn’t cancel your reservations.
What matters is whether the Pass you travel with still covers your journey. A reservation guarantees your seat, but you’ll still need a valid Pass for that train.
If you exchange your Pass
Your reservations stay valid as long as your new Pass covers:
- the date of your journey
- the country or countries you’re travelling in
- the class of your reservation
If your new Pass doesn’t cover your journey, your reservation won’t be valid with it. For example, if you exchanged a Global Pass for a One Country Pass that doesn’t cover the route, or a 1st class Pass for a 2nd class Pass when you have a 1st class reservation.
If you cancel your Pass
Your reservations stay booked, but you’ll need a valid Pass to travel with them. If you no longer need them, you can cancel them in your account under Reservations overview, by selecting Refund tickets.
If a reservation no longer fits your Pass
We can’t change the class or details of a reservation. You can:
- cancel it in your account and book a new one that fits your Pass. The train operator’s standard refund conditions apply, so you might not get the full amount back.
- ask the train operator whether they can change it for you.
Before you exchange your Pass in your account, check your reservations, so you know which ones your new Pass will still cover.
