The TGV is a high-speed train operating across France and to several international destinations, including Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, and Spain. There is also a dedicated service between France and Switzerland operated by TGV Lyria. Reservations on all TGV services are mandatory.
As these are popular high-speed trains, they can sell out well in advance. We therefore strongly recommend making reservations as early as possible. Reservations can typically be made up to 3 months in advance.
If Pass holder seats are already fully booked, you may consider the following alternatives:
- You can first try alternative booking platforms for Pass holders, such as B-Europe (during the booking process, you will be asked to enter your Pass Cover Number, which can be generated on our website, or by calling SNCF at +33 1 84 94 3635 (please press #85 for assistance in English). You can find a comprehensive list of alternative booking methods listed per country by clicking on the link below:
- If your schedule allows flexibility, you can try searching for the same route at a different time or on another date in our timetable.
You can also check whether the same route is available on trains that do not require a seat reservation. To do this, select the “No reservation needed” filter before clicking “Search” in the timetable (available under “Filters” in the Rail Planner app).
Another option is to consider alternative modes of transport, such as buses or car rental services, if available. Please note that the majority of bus services are not included in the Pass network.
- As a last resort, you may purchase a full-fare ticket locally at the station or via SNCF’s website. In this case, you will not need to use a travel day on your Pass. Please note that no refund can be provided for such purchases.
