Trains between France and Spain are run by two train operators: Renfe, with AVE trains, and SNCF, with TGV trains. Both need a seat reservation, and they’re popular, so it’s best to book as early as you can.

Travel via the Basque Country: this route takes longer and has more changes, but it works well if you’re heading to the Basque Country anyway:
- Paris to Hendaye by TGV, covered by your Pass (reservation needed).
- Hendaye to Irun, a 10-minute journey that isn’t covered by your Pass. A ticket costs about €2.
